Planned for the Milano Cortina 2026, Winter Olympic games, the project aims at responding to the current but also upcoming demands and needs of the project site area, considering also the bigger scale. Since Milan would be one of the clusters for the Olympic games, two project siles were proposed, the one of Porta Romana and the one of Santa Giulia. The focus was put on Porta Romana, however, along the process of designing, the importance of both areas was analyzed and observed. One cily system considered was the one connecting the two areas, represented as a transect, cutting diagonally through the city of Milan and strongly staling a relationship between Santa Giulia - Porta Romana - the center of Milan. The second cily system is one of the so-called green belt, running as a ring-shaped configuration of green spaces. The intersection of both systems, is the Porta Romana area, acting as a gate along the transect and a chain element in the green belt. The project strongly aims at improving four main elements which are the presence of bike lanes, green spaces, transportation, and activity \landmark. A logical and practical blend between the four would optimize the conditions and also improve the quality of the area.
Mobility was considered to play an important role since such event would increase the needs and demand for transport, movement of people, and interactions. Therefore, using the already existing connectivity potential of Porla Romana, additional points were introduced which would strengthen the mobility, combined with the presence of bike lanes Regarding the idea of landmarks, the known and already existing Fondazione Prada is imagined to form a cultural and business environment together with the A2A tower (under construction). For such reason, a third landmark is proposed, which would enforce the idea of attractiveness but also its visual aspect. As already mentioned the purpose and usage, the functions introduced are of a different variety, mainly being apartments that would temporarily host the athletes, and later be transformed into residential units, Besides this, commercial and cultural functions are also proposed, which can be transformed into spaces for small activities of the Olympic Games.
