The original structure, characterized by robust stone walls and defensive towers, showcases the practicality of medieval military engineering. Subsequent expansions, reflect the changing needs of its occupants and visitors, from defensive stronghold to aristocratic residence. The project aims at integrating an external and internal steel structure, which is attached with respect to the existing facade of the castle. Such addition, allows for a better user circulation, but also offers a broader range of functionality and events possibilities, which fulfils the main goal of the architectural preservation project.
The castle's architecture is a harmonious blend of various styles that have been added and adapted over the centuries. Castle Masegra has found new life in the modern era as well. Beyond its historical significance, it serves as a cultural hub, hosting events, exhibitions, and educational programs that celebrate its legacy. The goals of the project compliments and enhances the ongoing revival of Castle Masegra. Local communities and international visitors alike gather here to delve into the rich tapestry of Italian history, architecture, and culture, ensuring that the castle remains a vibrant and relevant part of the present.
