Overlaying architectural conservation and applied economics along with national and international perspectives can lead to innovative and sustainable solutions in the preservation, restoration, and valorization of the existing built environment, particularly of the cultural heritage. To achieve this, the projects consists of analysing and integrating various types of data to propose and optimise the future design of an existing heritage site, the Former Archaeology Museum of Tbilisi in Georgia. In collaboration with the Georgian Technical University of Tbilisi), the enhancement and valorization project will be associated with the identity of the country since the intervention will not only impact the socio-economic situation on a local scale but also on a national one based on a deep knowledge of Georgian culture and history. To achieve this aim, an understanding of the context will be supported by a critical analysis spanning from territorial to local scale, which involves collecting a variety of references such as writings, pictures, maps, and drawings.

In parallel, an economic analysis will be carried out with up-to-date statistical comparisons spanning in similar scales, further reinforcing the strategies for intervention (the economic analysis is not presented in the drawings and content). The abandoned museum, which is not recognized as a monument by the local authorities and people, will be considered as a cultural heritage and public good. This manifestation of culture will define new positions and responsibilities towards the building, which must be maintained and enhanced for future generations. The final outcome will present potential solutions not only considering ‘the building of intervention’ as an independent object, but also by integrating it into the urban fabric, making it a cohesive and integral part of the cultural heritage.
